Bring Back The Joy!

(Kristin Fisher / Chris Dincher)
Chris Dincher
Chris wanted to capture the familiar scene of losing the true spirit of Christmas in all of the “hustle and bustle” of the season.
It’s Christmas time what a scene,
It started after Halloween;
Summer time has turned to fall,
Santa Claus is at the mall.
Santa’s there for a reason
To jump start the shopping season,
Buy before it gets too late.
Good gifts don’t come to those who wait.

Thanksgiving comes and slips right by,
Life’s starting to intensify;
If a little less you’d like to pay,
You can shop Black Friday.
So hurry to your local mart,
The doors will open at six sharp;
A seasoned shopper understands
You take your life in your own hands.

We sure could use a silent night,
We need to get away to the manger,
To find what child is this whose light
Can bring back the joy to the world.

The office party time is here,
A crucial part of your career;
A weekend evening so unique,
To spend with those you see all week.
The business profits look quite good,
But one thing that is understood;
Demand for service starts to climb,
You need to work more overtime.
Your neighbor’s light display’s to blame,
For putting all the rest to shame;
Next to his yours has a blight,
Off to the store to buy more lights.
The children want to trim the tree,
There goes the ball from ’93;
It seems the more who decorate,
The quicker patience dissipates.

We sure could use a silent night,
We need to get away to the manger,
To find what child is this whose light
Can bring back the joy to the world.

The school will have its yearly play,
A generic winter holiday;
Can you find time to volunteer,
To dress the kids as reindeer?
Somehow it seems to be your fate
That once again you’re running late;
The kids are set to take the stage,
As you develop road rage.

We sure could use a silent night,
We need to get away to the manger,
To find what child is this whose light
Can bring back the joy to the world.

Finally it’s Christmas Eve,
Your back from church you feel relief;
The pastor’s message did inspire,
Angelic music from the choir.
There’s a feeling of serenity,
As you look beneath the Christmas tree;
And see the symbol of this day,
A baby lying in the hay.
So you say a prayer to thank the Lord,
For His great gift to all the world;
A small voice you hear from overhead,
Your son just threw up in his bed.

But you had a little silent night,
You have been away to the manger,
And know the child of love and light
Who can bring back the joy to the world.
We had a little silent night,
We have been away to the manger,
And know the child of love and light
Who can bring back the joy to the world,
He can bring back the joy to the world,
God will bring back the joy to the world.
